About The Society

The 10th Annual Conference of the Society of Catholic Priests was held in October 2018 at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in New York City. At the conference, we asked SCP members to talk about what membership in the Society means to them. These are their stories.


The Rev’d Erika Takacs

Mtr. Takacs is rector of Church of the Atonement in Chicago. She served for many years as associate rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, and served as Provincial Convenor of the Society of Catholic Priests for two years. She has been a member of the Society since its inception in 1998.

Mr. Phil Hooper

Phil is a senior at Church Divinity School of the Pacific and a candidate for holy orders. He joined the Society as a provisional member in July 2018.

The Venerable G. Douglas Fenton

Fr. Fenton is Executive Archdeacon of the Diocese of New Westminster. He has been a member of the Society for the past five years.

The Rev’d Daniel Moore

Fr. Moore is rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He joined the Society in July 2018.


Mtr. Rowell is the Lower School Chaplain at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Atlanta, Georgia. She joined the Society as a provisional member when a student at the University of the South in 2017 and was ordained a priest in June 2018.

The Rev’d Dr. Norman Whitmire

Fr. Whitmire is rector of All Saints Episcopal Church in Woodhaven, New York. He has been a member since the Society’s inception in 1998 when he joined as one of the first provisional members while a student at the Virginia Theological Seminary.

The Rev’d Robert Hendrickson

Fr. Hendrickson is rector of St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church in Tuscon, Arizona. He is a founding member of the Society.
