The Other Provinces of the Society of Catholic Priests
The Society of Catholic Priests was founded in England by a group of priests from the Southwark Diocese who felt that they could no longer remain within the existing fraternal organisations for priests. The society was formed in 1994 with the object of promoting the formation and support of priestly spirituality and Catholic evangelism
The Society of Catholic Priests was launched in Australia with the creation of new diocesan Chapters between 29 January and 4 February 2010. Chapters were formed in Melbourne and Newcastle and a number of other Chapters are now in the process of formation. Led initially by Fr Matthew Healy the Chapters in Australia are working towards the establishment of a new Province.
